Hobby

Per dictionary.com the definition of hobby is an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation.
I have been researching my ancestry for almost a year now and have JUST realized it's a hobby! I am enjoying myself more than I could ever have imagined! I have made trips out of town and am planning more.
I can go back to the 1800's on my dad's side. It is on my dad's mothers side that I have been totally fascinated - in my searching I have found two great-great uncles that killed people. While this is not something to be proud of you have to admit that it's interesting. I feel like I know these men personally through all the info I have collected.
One is my Uncle Riley. (I do refer to the people in my past as if they were alive during my lifetime - ex: "Uncle" Riley) Riley Herrington shot his wife and a man he believed to be her lover with a gun he purchased on the way home that very day.....talk about premeditation! The lover, Charles Howze, was in some way or another, related to Riley's wife - but he believed them to be in a relationship.
Uncle Will (John William) had a bit of a different situation with the crime he committed. Apparently he had been drinking and had a woman in the car with him that wasn't his wife. He hit and killed a man while driving drunk. The young lady in the car with him begged him to stop but he would not. They were both charged and convicted for the murder of James M. Cofer several days later.
These crimes were commited in the 1920's in Macon, GA.

I have been in contact with some distanct cousins and am looking forward to sharing info. As of right now, I have more info to offer than to receive from these contacts but I am hoping for photos! I have only one photo of my great-grandfather, Jesse James Herrington - and that is the only photo I have of the entire Herrington family! I have a long way to go.......
